Description

Unison to SATB, Solos, and Organ (optional C Instrument). Give your Advent wreath more than a cursory nod. Here's a set of responses to sing during the lighting of the candles. These are BRILLIANT and incorporate the Advent tune Puer nobis nascitur in the accompaniment. One setting for each Sunday in Advent and one for the Christ Candle on Christmas Eve/Day. We've even included readings. Sweet? You bet! Christmas is coming!

Lyrics
  • Candle One - Love
The First Advent candle is the candle born of Love. In his love and mercy he saves us. And when he calls us to the feast, his banner over us is peace. Our hope and salvation sent down from above, the first Advent candle is Love.
  • Candle Two - Hope
The second Advent candle is the candle born of Hope. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  He bears them up on beauty's wings. Our hope of salvation he brings. The first Advent candle is the candle of Love; the second our Hops from above.
  • Candle Three - Joy
The third Advent candle is the candle born of Joy. I will turn your mourning to gladness; give joy from out of sorrow. And hope for tomorrow. The first candle's Love and the second Hope brings; the third is the Joy that we sing.
  • Candle Four - Peace
The fourth Advent candle is the candle born of Peace. Unto us a child is given, and e'er his kingdom shall never cease. Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. The first Advent candle is the candle of Love, the second our Hope and delight; The third Advent Candle, our joy from above; and Peace is the fourth now alight.
  • Christmas Candle
Arise, shine, for your light is come, the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. And she brought forth her firstborn son and laid him in the manger. The Christmas candle is our Hope, our Peace, our Love, our everlasting Joy. Amen.
