Description

SATB choir and organ with two optional trumpets in Bb. (Hint: You could also do this one with a Unison or Two-Part Choir - just accompany the SATB section.) A bright, sparkling arrangement of the traditional Dutch carol, Vreuchten. With or without the trumpets, it's a great setting! Could you do this arrangement as a congregational hymn? ABSOLUTELY! (Note: The recording is in E Major. We decided though, to make it easier for the trumpets, to transpose down to Eb. Bb Trumpet players hate to play in F# Major. Just sayin...)

The unison version in E Major can be found here.

Lyrics

This joyful Eastertide,
away with care and sorrow!
My Love, the Crucified,
hath sprung to life this morrow.

Refrain:
Had Christ, that once was slain,
ne'er burst his threeday prison,
our faith had been in vain;
but now is Christ arisen,
arisen, arisen, arisen.

Death's flood hath lost its chill,
since Jesus crossed the river:
Lover of souls, from ill
my passing soul deliver.
Refrain

My flesh in hope shall rest,
and for a season slumber,
till trump from east to west
shall wake the dead in number.
