Changing Our Tune! ANNOUNCING - The Sewanee Composer’s Project MMVI So amazing...who could have thought of it but St. James Music Press? We have some good news and some bad news! Here’s the bad news — We’re raising the price on our MMVI Edition to an astronomical $79 (shipping included!). Here’s the good news — We’re going to give you SIX TIMES the music. For thirteen years, we’ve published volumes of photocopyable anthems that have attracted a loyal following across denominational lines. Now that SJMP has decided to raise its prices, our first thought (after contacting the local Rolls-Royce dealership) was “How can we make this worthwhile for our customers?” There were two answers - Find a more efficient delivery system and give them more for their money. Our past volumes of The Sewanee Composer’s Project contained 20-29 anthems. A great value! — just $55 and permission to make all the photocopies you need. But now, the newest volume in The Sewanee Composer’s Project comes on CD-ROM and contains over 700 pages of music and 6 hours of recordings with permission from St. James Music Press to make all the copies you need! 38 SATB Anthems • 9 SAB Anthems 17 Two-Part or Unison Anthems (including 5 anthems specifically for Children’s Choir) A NEW (20 minute) Christmas Cantata by Richard Shephard Service Settings • Mag/Nunc Settings • A Children’s Christmas Musical • Brass/Organ Hymn Arrangements Hymn Descants and Harmonizations • and Much More We’ve chosen this format because we can include hundreds of pages and all our usual recordings. But more than that! We’ve also included the lyrics to ALL the compositions for pasting into bulletins or programs. We’ve included EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files for all congregational parts (service music and congregational refrains). These can be placed in bulletins as well. Composer biographies and all instrumental parts are included, as always. Aren’t we going to lose our non-computer-savvy customers? Maybe. And five years ago, we wouldn’t have attempted this as our sole distribution method. But our CD-Rom Project in 2000 went pretty well and now we feel that most church musicians are fairly computer literate and if they’re not, they can probably find someone who is.
