Description

Thomas Gibbs holds the M.M. and the Ph.D. degrees in musicology from the University of Texas at Austin. He is retired from the faculty of music of Birmingham-Southern College, where he taught courses in music history, church music, and conducting. He is the co-author of a music appreciation textbook, Contemplative Listening, that introduces meditation techniques specifically for music listeners, and he continues to be active as a church musician, conductor, editor, choral clinician, and composer. His editions prepared for St. James Music Press are based on original sources whenever possible, and they combine scholarly editorial standards with the practical needs of today’s choirs.
