Description
Two-part (mixed) choir and organ. Text by John Byrom. Plaintive, mournful, and beautiful, this piece exudes a certain Romantic ethos reminiscent of Franck, Saint-Saëns, or Fauré. Your choir will love it. Text by John Byrom (d.1763).
Notes: This expressive two-part anthem needs to be sung in a relaxed manner with the syncopated dotted quarter-eighth figure not sounding to,O angular. The men’s part is high and basses should be careful not to force out the top notes. Sopranos and altos should practice the last phrase – to tune the last two notes accurately.
