Description

Arrangement of a 15th century carol, Verbum caro factum est (not the more famous Spanish tune). SATB a cappella with finger cymbals and hand drum. Alternate 3-part men's verse. Text by William C. Dix. Sprightly and dancelike.

As with gladness, men of old
Did the guiding star behold.

As with joy they hailed its light
Leading onward, beaming bright.

There to bend the knee before
Him Whom Heaven and earth adore.

As they offered gifts most rare
At that manger rude and bare.
