Description

Notes: The communion text which has Passiontide overtones. As in most settings of this text, singers need to sustain through long phrases whilst maintaining a sense of flow. Singers should strive to achieve a unity of vowel sound and coordinate the chords so the shifts in harmony are well defined. Use the dynamics to give structure to the piece although the piano passages should be confidently sung, and always maintain the momentum.

SATB (with brief Alto divisi) and organ. In Latin.

Ave, verum corpus natum
de Maria Virgine:
vere passum, immolatum
in cruce pro homine:
cuius latus perforatum
unda fluxit et sanguine:
esto nobis praegustatum,
in mortis examine.
