For SATB Choir, Organ, Brass Quintet or and Timpani. OR
SATB Choir, Organ, Brass Quartet and optional timpani.
This anthem for
Easter dates from 1906, and it makes a big, festive splash — if you have
the forces to do it, you won't be disappointed. Will Macfarlane had
a gift for writing music that fit the Victorian stereotype but avoided
sentimentality, and Tom Gibbs has given this old warhorse a faclift
with wonderful brass parts.
Also available is the original version SATB and organ alone. You might want to download the SATB/ORGAN score for your choir. The organist can easily play off the reduced score provided.

Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast.
Not with old leav'n, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness,
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more:
death hath no more dominion over Him.
For in that He died, He died unto sin once:
but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin:
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Christ is risen, is risen from the dead:
and become the first fruits of them that slept.
For since by man, for since by man came death:
by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam, for as in Adam all die:
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be:
World without end. Amen.
