Mark Schweizer Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Keyboard [organ/piano], French Horn, Handbells, Trumpet(s)
Original Publication
Brass for Easter
Moderately Easy
Suggested Uses(s)

SATB and Organ, optional trumpet or horn, optional handbells (5). This is an EASY piece for choir - small or large - and is one of those that sounds much bigger than it is. Alleluias abound at the end of each verse and layer at the end for a spectacular finish. SATB but could easily be done with fewer voices. Add a trumpet and a few handbells and what a triumph on Easter morning!

Christ the Lord is ris'n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high,
Sing ye heav'ns, and earth, reply,
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Lives again, our glorious King,
Where, O death, is now thy sting?
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise,
Angels sing, and earth replies,
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!
