Two-Part Mixed Choir and Organ (or piano). This EASY anthem for the Transfiguration features a wonderful new hymn tune by Rob Lehman. Three unison verses followed by a fourth verse with a soaring descant. (Yes, it's in the same meter as Brian Wren's beautiful "Christ upon the mountain peak.") Also available for SATB Choirs!
Want to sing this on the Second Sunday of Lent? There is now an alternate text for the "Alleluias."
Christ, upon the mountain stands
Vision of the Father's blessing
Blazing forth to all the lands,
Saints and angels now professing,
(Radiant Son of God divine,
Jesus, now in glory shines!)
Law and prophets have their place,
In the cloud of wondrous glory
Chosen witnesses of grace,
There to see and tell the story.
God, in majesty, descends,
Then proclaims to all before him,
This is my beloved Son!
Nations, come now and adore him.
Faithful hearts are lifted high.
Joyful strains, our voices raising
For this vision's mystery,
Songs of wonder, hymns of praising.
