Description

SATB (with divisi) and piano. Bright, contemporary, and joyful. Text by Carol Gunn.

In the sky a distant gleam made its way to earth
Whispers echoed near and far of a wondrous birth.
"Crown of light," they seemed to say,
"Graced the infant head.
Spread its rays o'er ox and ass and the manger bed."

One by one they came to pay homage to the King.
Through the stillness of the night gentle voices sing.
"Crown of light," they seemed to pray,
"Touch us with your grace.
Spread your rays o'er one and all, light the infant face."

All who gazed upon that sight had no need to speak.
Only to behold the face of that child so meek.
"Crown of light where will you call,
On your journey's quest?
Is there hope for peace on earth, will you ever rest?"

"Fear not!" was the command from ethereal skies,
Wisdom far beyond his years in the young King's eyes.
Crown of light bid us be still,
Trusting in your peace,
And the blessing of your love never cease.
