Description

Two-part (equal) choir with organ. Text by Isaac Watts. Music arranged from the Sacred Harp: vigorous and modal. Alternates between slow and quick sections. Alternate texts for Easter season and Lent. Also available in SATB. Great fun to sing and sure to be a hit with the congregation. For the Lenten version "Christ, our Savior" is substituted for the "Halleluias."

Alas! and did my Savior bleed And did my Sov‘reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head For sinners such as I?
O who is like Jesus? Halleluia, Praise ye the Lord!
There's none like Jesus, Halleluia, Love and serve the Lord!

Well might the sun in darkness hide And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died, For mortal creature’s sin.
O who is like Jesus? Halleluia, Praise ye the Lord!
There's none like Jesus, Halleluia, Love and serve the Lord!
