Adam Drese

Birth / Death Dates
1620-1701
Description

Adam Drese was a German composer and bass viol player. He was appointed Kapellmeister to Duke Wilhelm IV of Saxe-Weimar in 1652, but in 1662, after the death of the duke, the Kapelle was disbanded and Drese sought a similar position with Duke Bernhard at Jena. When that duke died in 1678, he found another post as Kapellmeister, to the Count of Schwarzburg, where Drese remained until his death.
