Description

Shawn E. Charton received his BM from Oberlin Conservatory in Vocal Performance before beginning his MM at FSU in Tallahassee. After FSU, he moved to Atlanta to begin an active career as soloist, coach, teacher, and accompanist. He taught at several of Atlanta’s private schools before becoming Head of Choral Activities at Academe of the Oaks, Decatur. Mr. Charton returned home to Arkansas in 2004. While there he completed a double MM in vocal performance and Music Theory from the University of Central Arkansas. Performance credits include Opera/Oratorio throughout the U.S. and London and several recordings. He is the author of several books including Jennens vs. Handel: Decoding the Mysteries of Messiah. He currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
