Notes: A useful anthem for a small choir perhaps at evensong. Keep a steady 2/2 pulse which should not be too slow to sustain the melody. The words are unusual and may have to be explained to the singers so they understand the mood of the text. Time could be well spent achieving a focused and unforced tone from the tenors and basses in the opening verse so the important words get priority rather than just the high ones.
