There Shall A Star From Jacob Come Forth
SAB and organ. From Mendelssohn's oratorio Christus. Incorporates the chorale Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern at the end. Dramatic and exciting, this is not an "abridged" version - the piece is included in its entirety. Not terribly easy, but a fine arrangement of the anthem for SAB choirs.
There shall a star from Jacob come forth, and a scepter from Israel rise up.
And dash in pieces princes and nations.
How bright appears the Morning Star
With mercy beaming from afar,
The host of heaven rejoices:
Jesus, Jesus!
Holy, holy, yet most lowly,
Draw thou near us;
Great Immanuel,
Come and hear us.
There shall a star from Jacob come forth, and a scepter from Israel rise up.
And dash in pieces princes and nations.
How bright appears the Morning Star
With mercy beaming from afar,
The host of heaven rejoices:
Jesus, Jesus!
Holy, holy, yet most lowly,
Draw thou near us;
Great Immanuel,
Come and hear us.
