Description

SATB and organ. Text (John 1:14) in Latin.  Mysterious and beautiful.

The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father.

Notes: Although these words are well known there are few contemporary settings. Make sure the choir know what the words mean and sing them with commitment and sensitivity. The climax of the piece at bar 22 on ‘gloriam’ should contain glimpses of Christmas wonder and joy. This would be a very effective introit or communion anthem at midnight mass or on the Feast of the Epiphany.
