A Venetian composer and organist of the late Renaissance, he was the uncle of the more famous Giovanni Gabrieli. He is famous for his polychoral and antiphonal works composed for the grand spaces of St. Mark's Basilica, where he was organist and principal composer.  (Read more: Wikipedia article.)
