Text from St. Patrick's Breastplate. Two-part (equal or mixed) and organ.
Notes: These well known words are set to a memorable melody that singers of ages will enjoy. Its limited range make it particularly suitable for young singers or, in the case of the tenor and bass part, for recently changed teenage boys voices. Make sure the final consonants are sounded each time on the word ‘Christ’ and the word ‘me’ is sustained at the end of each bar rather than swallowed. Use the piece at communion or as a sung blessing.
Christ be with me,
Christ within me,
Christ behind me,
Christ before me,
Christ beside me,
Christ to guide me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ in quiet,
Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in care of friend and stranger.
